GREEN BAY--As the wins continue to pile up for David Jacobson, so do the awards.

The St. Norbert College junior goaltender was recently named the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association's Player of the Year.

Jacobson, a 2009 Janesville Parker graduate, has compiled a 20-1-1 record this season heading into Saturday night's NCHA Harris Cup championship game against St. Scholastica. The Green Knights are looking for their fifth straight Harris Cup title.

In 2012, Jacobson was named MVP of the Division III Final Four after leading St. Norbert to the national title.

“I'm pretty happy with the way the season is going right now, but there's always room for improvement and things I can work on,” Jacobson said. “I think the biggest thing for me this year is that I'm playing with a lot more confidence. The defense in front of me has been outstanding, and as a team, I think we're finally hitting our stride.”

The top-ranked Green Knights, who lost in the Division III quarterfinals last year to UW-Eau Claire, have won seven straight and are 24-3-1 on the season.

Jacobson leads the nation with a 1.22 goals against average, a .938 save percentage and seven shutouts. His only loss this season was a 4-1 setback to Adrian College on Feb. 1, and he's coming off a 6-0 shutout win over Lake Forest College in an NCHA Harris Cup semifinal game last Saturday.

“We've been building as a team since coming back from the Christmas break,” Jacobson said. “We're still fine-tuning some things and haven't hit full stride yet, but when we do, we're going to really take off.

“The loss to Eau Claire last year really stayed with us. As a team, we worked really hard over the summer and haven't forgotten about it.”

Jacobson, who played one year with the Janesville Jets and set team records for wins and shutouts, has a 59-9-5 career record and 17 shutouts at St. Norbert.

Although he had dreams of one day playing Division I hockey, Jacobson is content at St. Norbert. He will graduate next year and could to end his stellar collegiate career with three national championships.

David Jacobson continues to impress. He might the best collegiate goalie—at any level. He certainly has the hardware and the wins to back it up.
