Veleta C. Peters, 101, of Soldiers Grove, WI, formerly of Elkhorn, WI, died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at Sannes Skogdalen Heim Nursing Home, Soldiers Grove, WI. She was born July 18, 1912, in Taloga, OK, the daughter of the late Arthur and Ethyl (Smith) Giles. At the age of three, her family moved to Gilman, IL, where she attended Parker-Hopewell School and graduated from Gilman High School. She was united in marriage to Albert Peters on Aug. 11, 1930, in Kankakee, IL. Albert died Aug. 27, 1986. Veleta was the curator of the Webster House in Elkhorn, WI, for many years. She was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother.

Veleta is survived by her son, Roger Peters of Soldiers Grove, WI; two grandchildren: Paul (Kathleen) Peters and Jayne (Rusty) Hart; six great-grandchildren: Brooke, Brittany and Chelsie Peters, Rusty (Cendy), Jordan (Lindsey) and Kenneth Hart; and one great-great grandson, Russell Hart. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Peters; and two brothers, Marion (Irma) and John (Irene) Giles.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2014, at HAASE-LOCKWOOD & ASSOCIATES FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 730 N. Wisconsin Street, Elkhorn, WI.
