JANESVILLE--Rock County Highway Department trucks are plowing and spreading salt after a short but heavy snowfall left roads snow covered and slippery, Rock County Public Works Dirctor Ben Coopman said.

Meanwhile, steady winds were causing trouble on rural roads.

“We're still fighing the same old issue of blowing and drifting in rural areas," Coopman said.

Intersections, hills and curves were getting attention first, he said.

He expects plow trucks to be out until 5 or 6 p.m.

“Just take your time, and you'll be safe," Coopman said.
