LAKE GENEVA — The cause of a New Year's Day fire at a Lake Geneva apartment complex is under investigation, Lake Geneva Fire Department Capt. Mark Moller-Gunderson said.

The fire at the three-story apartment complex at 250 Havenwood Drive was reported at 1:49 p.m. Wednesday.

The fire was contained to one apartment in the 67-unit building, Moller-Gunderson said.

The fire could have started in a bathroom ceiling fan, but Moller-Gunderson could not say for certain.

Damage was limited to the single apartment and a few apartment doors knocked down when firefighters were evacuating the building.

No one was injured in the fire. One person was transported to Aurora Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn for a preexisting condition, Moller-Gunderson said.

More than 100 firefighters and police from the Lake Geneva Fire Department and other area departments responded to the call.

Officers remained on scene for three hours until the residents were able to enter the building.

A damage total has not yet been determined.
