The Rock County Fury faced a stiff test Saturday morning as part of its holiday tournament in Beloit, opening a doubleheader of games with an 8-0 loss to the Green Bay Area Ice Bears, the No. 5 team in the state, according to wisconsinprephockey.net.

“We played much better today than we did yesterday,” said Fury coach Darrel Moore, referring to the team’s 4-1 loss to Fond du Lac to open the tourney. “However, we made mistakes executing our systems. Green Bay made us pay for that.”

Despite letting in eight goals, Fury goaltender Molly Gross saved another 50 Green Bay shots in the game.

Moore said his team played better in the second game of the day against Appleton, taking a 2-0 lead a minute into the second period after Katie Maegli moved to forward and scored a goal, but Appleton scored five unanswered goals in a 5-2 win.
