Jerome Palzkill, Walworth (1925 - 2013)

Jerome P. Palzkill was born in Mineral Point, WI to Michael and Celia (Marr) Palzkill. He married Janice Vail October 20th, 1956 at St Benedict Church in Fontana, WI. JP served in the Army 101st Airborne Glider Div.

He received theNormandy Campaign Battle Star, Glider Badge, European African ribbon, American Theater ribbon, Good conduct medal, WWII Victory medal and a wounded in battle Purple Heart. After his time in the Army he attended UW Platteville and UW Madison, attaining a BS and Master degrees in teaching and agronomy. Walworth High School (now Big Foot HS) was his only teaching position, where started the Vocational Agriculture classes with the Walworth Co. Fair being the highlight of the year involving competition between clubs. He retired after 39 years with fond memories of faculty and students. Jerry served his church and community on St Benedict’s early Holy Name Society and Knights of Columbus, Walworth-Fontana Rotary Club. He was a member of Ingalls-Koeppen Post 102. He served on the Walworth Co Board and a director of Walworth State Bank. For many years he wrote for The Walworth Times under the heading “from where I sit”. Jerry loved his family. He loved life and anything that was growing.

JP is survived by his wife, Janice; children: J Peter (Betsy Stetter), Jeffrey (Linda) and Jill (Karl) Woelfer; Grandchildren Celia and Joseph Palzkill. He was preceded by his parents; brothers: Lambert, Charles, Vincent, Firman, Ralph and Michael; sisters: Bernice McMurrough, Ruth Preston and Jean Tesch
