JANESVILLE—A former Janesville School Board member has taken out papers to run for that office again.

Dale Thompson served on the board for two three-year terms in the 1990s. He retired in 2000 from his longtime position as director of the Rock County Developmental Disabilities Board.

This makes two people who have taken out papers for three seats on the board. The other is incumbent Kevin Murray.

Incumbent Scott Feldt is not running again. Incumbent Bill Sodemann said he is seriously considering not running.

Candidates have until 5 p.m Tuesday, Jan. 7, to file their papers in order to be placed on the spring ballot.

A candidate must file a declaration of candidacy, campaign registration statement and nominating petitions with at least 100 and no more than 200 signatures.

District residents interested in running for school board can get the required papers between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays at the Educational Services Center, 527 S. Franklin St. For more information, call assistant board clerk Deb Blazer at 608-743-5056.
