JANESVILLE—Janesville School Board member Kevin Murray has taken out papers to run for re-election.

No one else had taken out papers as of Tuesday afternoon.

Also facing a decision about whether to run again are board members Scott Feldt and Bill Sodemann.

Murray, a retired Janesville firefighter/paramedic, has served on the board since 2005. If he gets enough signatures to qualify for the ballot, he would be seeking his fourth three-year term.

To be placed on the ballot, a candidate must file a declaration of candidacy, campaign registration statement and nominating petitions with at least 100 and no more than 200 signatures. Papers must be turned in by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7.

District residents interested in running for school board can get the required papers between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays at the Educational Services Center, 527 S. Franklin St.

For more information, contact assistant board clerk Deb Blazer, 608-743-5056.
