Oshkosh West used a dominant second quarter to pull away from Janesville Parker in the Vikings girls basketball team’s season-opener Saturday.

Oshkosh outscored Parker 17-7 in the second quarter and pulled away for a 52-36 victory at Brookfield Central.

“They were more physical than we were,” Parker coach Tom Klawitter said. “Defensively, we didn’t play real well and kind of missed on some opportunities.

“They were a good ballclub that will have a good season. I won’t take anything away from them.”

Jessica Thompson made three 3-pointers, and she and Bree Porter each scored nine points to lead the way for Parker.

The Vikings open Big Eight Conference play Madison Memorial on Thursday night.
