John Sauerzopf, age 84, of Janesville, died on Nov. 16, 2013, at home from cancer. He was born on Aug. 20, 1929, in Chicago, IL, the son of John and Stella (Barnett) Sauerzopf. John married Gwenellen A. Snyder on March 31, 1951, and has resided in Janesville, since their marriage. Gwenellen preceded him in death on Oct. 18, 1976. John was a life member of the VFW Post 1621 in Janesville, and the Steamfitters Local #601 in Milwaukee. Following his discharge from military service in 1948, John was employed as a journeyman steamfitter, until his retirement in 1991.

John is survived by two sons, John and Michael (Kay); four daughters: Gwenellen Marie, Linda Caldean, Catherine Sauerzopf, and Carol (John) Farago; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 4 until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, at the SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY. Private graveside services will be held on a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Agrace HospiceCare New Building Fund.
