Tornado watch issued for Rock, Walworth counties

JANESVILLE--A tornado watch is in effect until 4 p.m. for parts of southern Wisconsin, including Rock and Walworth counties, according to the National Weather Service.

Dane, Dodge, Green, Jefferson, Kenosha, Lafayette, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Washington and Waukesha also are affected.

Earlier, the agency issued a tornado warning until 10:30 a.m. for Racine, northwestern Kenosha and eastern Walworth counties.

At 10:12 a.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Bohners Lake or near Lake Geneva moving northeast at 50 mph, according to the weather service.

The storm was capable of producing a tornado and quarter size hail, according to the weather service. Radar indicated rotation.

Mobile homes can be damaged or destroyed during tornados. Damage to roofs, windows and vehicles can occur. Flying debris can be deadly to people and animals. Tree damage is likely.
