Collins tops Southern Lakes award-winners
Jesse Collins is the best of the best in Southern Lakes Conference football.
The Delavan-Darien junior quarterback was named the Southern Lakes’ Offensive Player of the Year for the 2013 season.
Collins was the catalyst behind the Comets’ high-powered offense. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound Collins helped Delavan-Darien average better than 30 points per game, including a school-record 70-point outburst in a season-opening win over East Troy. Collins threw for 1,141 yards and 13 touchdowns and added 961 yards rushing with 20 touchdowns. He averaged over 230 yards of offense per game.
Collins is joined on the first-team offense by senior teammate John Damrow at tight end, along with Comet senior wide receiver Stephen Rodriguez.
Southern Lakes co-champion Lake Geneva Badger placed senior running back Andrew Allen on the first team, along with senior offensive linemen Logan Tenney and Erik Sundstrom.
Wilmot senior defensive lineman Zach Dodge was the Lakes’ Defensive Player of the Year.
Badger’s Josh Doyle, Andy Cychner, Evan Gibson and Matt Reynolds were named first-team defense, along with Elkhorn senior linebacker Jake Sawyers and Delavan-Darien senior defensive lineman Eliah Nelson.
