JANESVILLE--The UW-Richland men’s basketball team simply refused to go away on Wednesday night.

But UW-Rock County held off two furious runs to win a wild Wisconsin Collegiate Conference game.

Richland got hot from beyond the arc to come back from double-digit leads in both halves, but the Rattlers never gave in, winning 98-93.

“It was a really bizarre game with not a lot of defense,” UW-Rock coach Scott Lee said. “We had a big lead early and Richmond came storming back. And we had a big lead late and they came storming back again.”

Elkhorn graduated Kyle Hoskins led the men’s team (5-1, 2-0 WCC) with 24 points and 20 rebounds.

It was all Rattlers on the women’s side.

They forced 18 first-half turnovers and never looked back, topping Richland 76-35.

“All 10 players played and all 10 players scored,” Lee said. “So it was very much a team victory.”

Fort Atkinson grad Lexie Weigand led the Rattlers (5-1, 5-0) with 16 points.

The men’s team hosts UW-Sheboygan at 2 p.m. on Saturday. The women host UW-Manitowoc at 6 p.m. on Monday.
