Gov. Walker seeking Rock County coroner applicants
MADISON--Gov. Scott Walker is seeking applications for the Rock County coroner position.
Jenifer Keach resigned from the position in early November for a private sector nursing job. She has been coroner since June 2005, when Gov. Jim Doyle appointed her.
After working for the county for more than eight years and winning re-election twice, Keach's last day will be Saturday, Nov. 16.
The new coroner will complete Keach's term ending January 5, 2015, according to a news release.
Once the term ends, Rock County will eliminate the coroner position and transition to an appointed medical examiner.
Chief Deputy Coroner Louis Smit will take over coroner duties until Walker picks a replacement.
Applicants must live in Rock County when beginning the job. For more information on applying, visit walker.wi.gov.
