RICHFIELD, Minn.—There was no third-period magic Saturday night for the Janesville Jets.

One night after rallying for a shootout win over the Minnesota Magicians, the Jets’ comeback bid came up short.

Bryan Nies stopped 22 of 24 shots he faced to lead the Magicians to a 3-2 win in an NAHL North Division game.

Janesville trailed 3-0 in the third until Jordan Himley broke Nies’ shutout bid with a goal at 13:35. Zach Avolio picked up an assist on the play. Michael Louria made it 3-2 with 34 seconds left thanks to an extra attacker on the ice, but the Jets could not get the equalizer the final 30 seconds.

Brock Kautz suffered the loss in net despite 34 saves.

Janesville hosts Port Huron in a two-game series Friday and Saturday at the Janesville Ice Arena.
