Edward James Drexler, Whitewater (1938-2013)

Edward James Drexler, age 75, of Whitewater, WI, passed away on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at The Glen in Whitewater, WI. Edward was born in Cincinnati, OH, on Feb. 9, 1938, the son of Joseph William and Theresa Edna (Synnott) Drexler. He graduated from Elder High School in Cincinnati, OH, received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Chemistry from Xavier University, and his PhD from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. Edward taught chemistry for 38 years at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. On Aug. 31, 1963, Edward married Kathryn Ann Miller in Detroit, MI. Edward received the W.P. Roseman Excellence in Teaching Award from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 1988. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Whitewater. Edward had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, travel, and loved movies.
Surviving are his wife, Kathryn Drexler of Whitewater, WI; his children: Elizabeth Drexler of Whitewater, Diane (David Spies) Drexler of Madison, WI, David (Ann Edahl) Drexler of Fresno, CA, Gregory (Tracy) Drexler of Madison, and Timothy Drexler of Fitchburg, WI; two grandchildren, Maximillian and Olivia Drexler; and two brothers, Joseph (Marie) Drexler and Charles Drexler, both of Cincinnati, OH. Edward was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Mary Drexler.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at 11 a.m. at ST. PATRICK CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1225 W. Main Street, Whitewater,WI, with Father Stephen Forrest celebrating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Whitewater. Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at the NITARDY FUNERAL HOME, 550 N.
