Your views: Why go through drama in Washington?
So what's happening in Washington? Is it conflict, chaos, sabotage, revolution or Armageddon?
Since the Continuing Resolution to run government has already been approved by the U.S. Senate and does not need a president's signature, only the U.S. House of Representatives has stopped the government from running. The speaker won't let a vote take place. Since only Congress can legislate health care, why the shutdown? If they want a conversation, where have they been for six months since the Senate sent them a budget? Why are the 70 percent of U.S. citizens who want the government to do their work ignored?
Are we lemmings jumping off the cliff? Does the U.S. House really want the economy to crash? Are leaders working on behalf of some foreign powers as a prelude to the Trans-Pacific Partnership? Are billionaires running a shadow government? Is this an overthrow coup by corporate powers? Has American capitalism and representative democracy run its final course? Who benefits from financial collapse?
The shutdown is harming workers put out of work; soldiers suffer; farmers don't have a bill; and our health, food and safety are in jeopardy. This debacle costs $300 million per day besides leading to default, which could destroy the world economy. Since no possible good can come from this procedure, why go through the drama? It's time to pray for wiser action and make hard demands on extremist cowards with big egos who back away from agreements.
