The Janesville Craig volleyball team celebrated senior night with a nonconference victory Monday.

The Cougars swept a home match against Monroe, winning 25-23, 25-20, 25-13.

“It was a nice win; we started out kind of slow, but picked things up in game two and game three,” Craig coach Blake Budrow said. “Amanda Trapp did a nice job of passing all night long, which allowed us to get the ball to different hitters.”

Trapp, a senior libero, helped senior setter Kayley Hackett dish out 20 assists.

Senior Ali Calkins led all players with 14 kills, while junior McKenzie Bertagnoli added 10.

“(Calkins) did a nice job of hitting corners and tipping,” Budrow said. “They had a really good blocker, who blocked us quite a bit in the first game, but we adjusted well.”

Craig, now 26-11 overall, and Janesville Parker will compete in the Big Eight Conference meet in Beloit on Saturday.
