After each team scored two goals in the third period of Friday’s game, the Janesville Jets and Michigan Warriors needed an overtime and a shootout to decide a winner in their North American Hockey League matchup. Adam Winborg scored the Jets’ third shootout goal, and Michigan’s Alec Pellegrino failed to respond, giving Janesville the 4-3 win.

Michigan opened the scoring at the 12:27 mark of the first period. Grant Stueve answered for the Jets at 11:11 of the second with assists by Mike Sullivan and Alex Shuchuk.

Despite a wide disparity in shots taken, the Warriors grabbed the lead early in the third through a Jake Faiella goal. Janesville’s Robin Hoglund responded, scoring the next two goals for the Jets before Faiella scored another to tie the game.

Janesville had the best chances to win in the sudden-death overtime period with six shots on goal to Michigan’s zero, including a penalty shot for Jordan Himley, but Warrior goaltender Trevor Gorsuch turned them all away to force the shootout.
