TOWN OF ALBION—A motorcycle crash that killed a 54-year-old Edgerton man Wednesday night remains under investigation by the Dane County Sheriff's Office.

James E. Stout died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash, the Dane County Medical Examiner's Office said in a news release.

The crash happened at 10:32 p.m. on Highway 51 at Albion Road in the town of Albion, according to a sheriff's office news release.

Stout was traveling south on Highway 51 when he failed to negotiate a curve north of Albion Road causing his motorcycle to leave the road, hit a road sign and land in a ditch at the intersection of Highway 51 and Albion Road.

Stout, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center, Janesville, where he was pronounced dead.
