ELKHORN—A Whitewater teen accused of sexually assaulting a young girl at a small Baptist school pleaded guilty to a felony charge in Walworth County Court on Wednesday.

Prosecutors had charged Samuel Shelton, 18, of W6150 Kettle Moraine Drive, Whitewater, with three counts of repeated sexual assault of a child this spring.

At a hearing Wednesday, Shelton pleaded guilty to one of those charges as part of an agreement that saw the other two dismissed but read in, Deputy District Attorney Josh Grube said.

He had been accused of regularly assaulting a young girl at the 35-student Kettle Moraine Baptist Academy between the spring of 2012 and January of 2013.

Shelton's parents took him out of the school when the assaults came to light, administrator John Swaffer said in April.
