MIDDLETON—Taylor Wyss shot a 7-over 79 to help the Janesville Parker girls golf team to a tie for seventh place at the Cardinal Invite at Pleasant View Golf Course on Saturday.

The Vikings shot 347 as a team, 23 shots off the pace set by Verona.

“We have some fine-tuning to do in our short game and need to work on hitting a few more greens in regulation so we can break into that 330 range,” Parker coach Mary Ross said. “The teams that are throwing these scores out right now, I’m so impressed.

“Taylor hung in there today. Her putting kept her in it.”

Milton’s Maddie McCue was the top area finisher, shooting a 78 to tie for 10th individually. The Red Hawks were two strokes back of Parker in ninth place.

Janesville Craig finished 21st with 431. Haley Arneson led the Cougars with a 96.

Parker plays again Monday at Madison Edgewood’s invite. Craig, Beloit and Parker play in a Big Eight triangular on Wednesday at Riverside.
