Doubles teams lead Parker tennis to victory

Janesville Parker used victories in all three doubles matches to get past visiting Madison La Follette, 4-3, in a Big Eight Conference opener Tuesday afternoon.

“Those three teams played really, really well,” said Parker coach Justin Long.

Meghann Hoag ran her season record to 7-0 at No. 2 singles with a 6-4, 6-0 victory.

The No. 1 doubles team of Elizabeth Severance and Rosalie Sellman went to 6-1, while the No. 2 team of Heather Bailey and Joey Turner improved to 5-2.

The No. 3 doubles team of Anastasia Schoon and Constance Beyer won 6-2, 2-6, 12-10, to give the Vikings their deciding point.

The Vikings are at Madison Memorial on Thursday.


Singles—Sasha Walkowski (ML) def. Becky Harmata, 6-3, 6-2; Meghann Hoag (JP) def, Gracie Blechl, 6-4, 6-0; Kristina Kennedy (ML) def. Becky Sodemann, 6-0, 6-1; Yang Chen (ML) def. Karly Stowers, 6-2, 6-4.

Doubles—Elizabeth Severance-Rosalie Sellman (JP) def. Roxy Smith-Mercie Brown, 6-4, 7-6 (7-2); Heather Bailey-Joey Turner (JP) def. Sam Secorowieg-Whitney Braun, 6-3, 1-6, 10-8; Anastasia Schoon-Constance Beyer (JP) def. Kayla Halvorsen-Katie Casey, 6-2, 2-6, 12-10.

Junior varsity—La Follette 7, Parker 0.
