TOWN OF BELOIT—Three of seven licensed tobacco vendors sold tobacco to an underage person Friday during a Town of Beloit Police Department sting using underage operatives, according to a police department news release.

Employees who sold to minors worked at Grover's Spirits of 51, 3236 Riverside Drive; Cigarette Depot of Beloit, 3464 Riverside Drive; and Marathon gas station, 2760 Prairie Ave.

The remaining four licensees refused sale to the underage representative.

The police department periodically performs sting operations to ensure all licensees remain in compliance with state law. The department coordinated the operation with Rock County Youth2Youth.

Sgt. Laura Palmer encouraged tobacco vendors to be diligent in checking the IDs of all people buying tobacco products.
