Five seek three Fontana Village Board seats
Patrick J. Kenny, Rick Pappas, David L. Prudden, Todd P. Reschke and Tom Whowell are running for three available seats on the Fontana Village Board.
PATRICK J. KENNY (I)
Address: 785 Indian Hills Road, Fontana.
Job: Senior vice president of sales.
Education: Bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minn.
Community service: Member of the Big Foot Lions Club and board member of the Geneva Lake Environmental Agency.
Elected posts: Appointed as Fontana trustee in 2007 and re-elected in 2008, 2010 and 2012. Chairman of the finance committee, member of the review board for GLEA.
Major campaign issue: None
RICK PAPPAS (I)
Address: 543 Akwenasa Way, Fontana.
Education: 1980 graduate of Wayland Academy in Beaver Dam.
Community service: None
Elected posts: Fontana Village Board, 2012-present.
Major campaign issue: “The need for a proactive, comprehensive long-term financial strategy and implementation plan. Currently, the village budgeting process is reactive. The village has no long-term funding strategy for upcoming capital expenditures. We need to assess all current and expected future costs and then develop budgets based on long-term expenses and revenues.”
DAVID L. PRUDDEN
Address: 274 Sylvan Lane, Fontana.
Job: Semi-retired. Worked nine years as a firefighter and 30 years as owner and president of a fire protection company
Education: Studied fire science at Triton College, River Grove, Ill.
Community service: Commissioner on the Fontana Police and Fire Commission for the last three years. Past president of and coach in youth hockey organization.
Elected posts: None
Major campaign issue: “I would strive to maintain the quality of the village services that we have while keeping the cost of these services reasonable and affordable. If elected, I would enjoy meeting with village residents and business owners to hear their comments and concerns. I will be a proactive trustee for the people.”
TODD P. RESCHKE
Address: 810 Shoshone Road, Fontana.
Job: Chief engineer, The Abbey Resort & Spa.
Education: 1980 graduate of Marengo Community High School, Marengo, Ill.
Community service: Fontana Public Works Committee.
Elected posts: None
Major campaign issue: “The village is struggling financially. I pledge to work on the big picture and a plan for Fontana's future. I believe in transparency from our village leadership. I believe in smart growth, and that vitality is crucial to survivability. I believe in community over personal interest.”
