Mildred E. “Millie” Berns, age 72, of Edgerton, died on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, unexpectedly at home. She was born in Edgerton on January 26, 1945, the daughter of Anna M. Wille. Millie was a 1963 graduate of Edgerton High School. She married David P. Berns on January 4, 1964, later divorcing but remaining very close friends. She was a meter reader for Alliant Energy until her retirement in 2010, but had also worked at First National Bank. Millie enjoyed fishing, hunting, quilting, gardening, visiting flea markets and feeding her birds and wildlife. Most of all she loved her family gatherings, making the food and playing Yahtzee.

Millie is survived by her three children: Mary (Doug) Crandall of Stoughton, Brian Berns of Janesville and Joe (Lori) Berns of Footville; three grandchildren: Dan (Tanya) Crandall of Edgerton, Jon Crandall of Plover, and Garret Ronan of Footville; a great-grandson, Dillon Crandall; mother, Anna Wille of Edgerton; former husband, Dave Berns of Milton; two aunts, Doris Wille and Ruth Wille, both of Edgerton. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2017, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Edgerton with Fr. Eric Berns officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be at Fassett Cemetery, Edgerton.
