David F. Leeder, age 68, of Janesville, died on Friday December 1, 2017 at Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer. He was born on January 7, 1949 in Janesville, WI, the son of Floyd and Maureen (McKeown) Leeder. David graduated from Janesville High School in 1968. On July 12, 1969 he married Donna Heenan at First Lutheran Church in Janesville. He worked for General Motors in Janesville for 42 years. He retired from General Motors in 2009, as an electrician. In 1974, he established D. F. Leeder Construction, specializing in cement jobs, excavation work and occasionally building houses. He returned to work at Chrysler in Belvidere, IL, in 2012. David was also a proud member of UAW local 95 and UAW local 1268. He enjoyed working, building, and helping his friends with any projects. He was also an avid car enthusiast, attending the Chicago Auto Show annually.

He is survived by his loving wife, Donna; daughters, Jeanette (Jeff) Peterson and Colleen (Mark) Brownstetter; granddaughters, Allison and Kimberly Peterson; sister, Faye (Richard) Ball; brother, Ellis Leeder; brother-in-law, Roger Heenan; sister-in-law, Mardyth Heenan; and many extended relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Tim Leeder; and nephew, Daniel Heenan.
