Dr. H. Daniel Green D.D.S., 83, of Beloit, WI, died Tuesday, November 21, 2017 in his home due to complications from a stroke. Dr. Green was born February 4, 1934, to Viola (Brown) and Harold Green in Scranton, PA. His family moved to Beloit, WI, in 1937. He graduated from Beloit Memorial High School in 1952, Beloit College in 1956 and Northwestern Dental School in 1960. He married Cornelia Ann Ellis of Rockton, IL in 1959 in the Old Stone Church. Following his Dental Internship at the VA hospital in Chicago in 1961, he served his country as a Dentist in the U.S. Army stationed in Nuremburg, West Germany until 1964. Upon return from military service in Europe, he started his family dental practice in Beloit, WI, in 1964 and practiced for 40 years. Dr. Green served in various dental leadership capacities at the county, state and national level. Dan Green was a very active and devoted volunteer in the Beloit community. He was active in the Eagle Scout approval process, a member of the Lion’s Club, a founding member of the Beloit Brewers/Snappers and a member of the Sports Hall of Fame from its inception. His passion for everything sports-related led him to authoring a book highlighting the significant sports accomplishments of teams/individuals of the Stateline Area. He has received many awards acknowledging his leadership and generosity. He has been active in the United Methodist Church (River of Life) his entire life.
Survived by his wife, Dr. Cornelia Green; his children, Scott (Marie) Green and Mary Ann (David) Betlach; grandson, Alec; sister, Lois Maxted; and numerous nieces, and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents; and oldest sister, Jean Bastian.
Visitation of Remembrance will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, December 8, 2017, in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI. Visitation will also be held from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Saturday, December 9, 2017 in the River of Life United Methodist Church, 2375 Prairie Ave, Beloit, WI, followed by a Memorial service at 11 a.m. in the church. A gathering for family and friends will be held after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to Beloit Regional Hospice, River of Life United Methodist Church or Beloit College.
