Jets complete sweep of Brookings

Jordan Steinmetz scored the game-winning goal in the third period to lift Janesville to a 2-1 win over visiting Brookings on Saturday night to give the Jets a series sweep.

Janesville is tied for first place in the Midwest Division with the Fairbanks Ice Hogs with 34 points. Janesville is 16-7-2.

Kip Hoffmann put the Jets ahead 1-0 with a goal off assists from Jakov Novak and Erik Palmqvist just 6 minutes into the game. Brookings tied the game later in the period, and the score remained tied until the third period.

Benji Eckerle and Nathan Solis collected assists on Steinmetz’s winning goal.

Goalie Dan Lebedeff made 26 saves.

Janesville remains at home for two games next weekend. The Jets host Kenai River at 7 p.m. Friday and the Springfield Jr. Blues on Saturday at 7 p.m.
