Basketball roundup: Tway, Brodhead beat buzzer

Brodhead beat the buzzer to open the Rock Valley Conference boys basketball season Thursday.

Justice Tway buried a shot with 1 second left to lift the visiting Cardinals over Walworth Big Foot 60-58.

Tway finished with 17 points, while Brekan Day led Brodhead with 18. Day had the assist on Tway’s final bucket.

Logan Eischeid led all scorers with 25 points for Big Foot, which traded leads with Brodhead over the course of the final five minutes.

• Edgerton 56, Turner 46—The visiting Crimson Tide held the Trojans to just 18 second-half points to spring a bit of an RVC upset.

Edgerton led just 29-28 at halftime but pulled away through the middle of the second half.

Jacob Fox scored 16 points to lead the Crimson Tide, while Dai’Vontrelle Strong had 16 in the loss for Turner.

• Evansville 80, Clinton 52—A strong second half propelled the visiting Blue Devils to a victory to open league play.

Evansville led by just one point at halftime but outscored Clinton 47-20 after the break.

Zach Mielke led all scorers with 26 points for the Blue Devils, who also got 18 from sophomore Sulley Geske.

Caleb Gracyalny led the Cougars with 13.
