Warhawks move to 4-0 with win

The 11th ranked UW-Whitewater men’s basketball team improved to 4-0 with a 79-70 victory over Anderson (Indiana) in a nonconference game at Kachel Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.

 

The win extended the Warhawks’ regular-season nonconference game winning streak to 21 games.

 

Coach Pat Miller’s squad committed only nine turnovers and had 16 offensive rebounds.

 

Junior guard Andre Brown led the Warhawks with 17 points. He added five rebounds.

 

Junior guard David Sachs totaled 15 points and added four assists, and junior guard Mitchell Pfeifer made four 3-pointers en route to a 14-point, six-rebound effort.

 

The visiting Ravens trailed by only two points 40-38 at halftime. Whitewater went on a 7-2 run to start the second half and never trailed after that.

 

The Warhawks head to California next weekend for a two-day tournament at Redlands. The team begins the event Friday, Dec. 1, at 7p.m. against Caltech.
