June M. Wertz, age 100, a lifelong Janesville resident, passed away Tuesday morning, November 21, 2017, at SSM/St. Mary’s Hospital, Janesville. She was born May 6, 1917, in Janesville, the daughter of the late John & Marie (Johnson) Nielson. She attended school in Janesville, and was a graduate of Janesville High School. She married Howard Dominy on May 27, 1939, and he preceded her in death on May 7, 1969. She later married Benjamin D. Wertz. He preceded her in death on December 19, 2001. June was a longtime member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. She loved animals, gardening, watching the birds, playing bingo and gambling at the casinos.

June is survived by her two children, Sherri (Dick) Thomson, and Michael (Sue) Dominy, both of Janesville; her eight grandchildren, Tom (Sue) Dominy, of Ladysmith, WI, Chris (Paul) Walquist, Tina (Jeff) Tucker, Scott (Colleen) Thomson, Kelly (Heath) Bierman, Mary (Al) Vernon, and Matt Dominy, all of Janesville, and Amy Dominy, of East Troy, WI; many great-grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren; her two sisters, Dorothy Babcock, of Janesville, and Mary Rhein, of California; her sisters-in-law, Dorothy Wertz, of Portland, OR, and Marcella (Keith) Ellison, of LaCrosse, WI; and by many nieces; nephews; and friends. Besides her parents; and her husbands; she was preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law, Tom (Joan) Dominy, and her three brothers, Norman, Robert, and Alfred Nielson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 27, 2017, at the WHITCOMB-LYNCH FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, with Deacon John Houseman officiating. Burial will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Monday at the FUNERAL HOME.

June’s family would like to send their special thanks and appreciation to Megan and her staff at the Hawthorne Home for the wonderful care they gave to June. Her every need was met, and they always made her feel cared for and loved every day she was with them!
