Wilderness shut out Jets to open series

The Janesville Jets were shut out Friday night for just the second time in 14 months.

The Jets were outshot just 34-32, but Minnesota Wilderness goalie Ryan Fanti stopped all 32 sent his way and the Wilderness skated to a 3-0 victory at the Janesville Ice Arena.

Janesville was shut out just twice all of last season, the most recent time coming March 23.

After a scoreless first period, the Wilderness scored twice in the second, including once while shorthanded, to seize control.

Eric Gotz and Luke Dow each had a pair of assists for the Wilderness.

Janesville hosts the second and final game of the series at 7 p.m. today.
