Crandell Bliss, age 84, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017, at Cedar Crest Nursing Home after a hard fought battle with a terminal illness. He was born May 9, 1933, in Janesville, the son of Robert and Carolyn (Crandell) Bliss. He married Janet Farnum on Dec. 18, 1952. He had a long time career with the family business, the Janesville Gazette, and served as Vice President of Advertising. He was always active in barbershop quartets and choruses. He contributed to the founding of the Archeological Society in Rock County, and was involved in many community initiatives through the Janesville Jaycees and the Elks Club. Cran’s passions were always music, the outdoors, and his rose gardens. We will never forget the picture window filled with those beautiful birds he attracted and cared for throughout the years.
Cran is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Janet; his five children: Chris Bliss of Janesville, Sherie Bliss (Keith) Cloud of South Carolina, Kim Bliss of Janesville, Shelly (Jim) Rooney of Janesville, and Dell (Roxanne) Bliss of Illinois; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sister, Cynthia Leute; and many other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Barbara Freeman.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 20, 2017, at SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY. A visitation will be held from 10 until 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 20, 2017, at SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME.
