Brookings completes sweep of Jets
South Dakota was not the place to be if you were a Janesville Jet this weekend.
Brookings swept the visiting Jets, winning Saturday’s game 5-3.
The home team scored the first three goals of the game to take a 3-0 lead in the second period.
The Jets rallied to make a game of it. Kip Hoffman’s second goal of the game got the Jets to within 4-2 with 17:16 left in the game.
Jakov Novak made things interesting when he scored a power-play goal with 40 seconds left in regulation to make it 4-3. The Jets had a two-man advantage when they pulled goalie Daniel Lebedeff, but Brookings sealed the win with an empty net goal.
The Jets play Coulee Region at La Crosse on Wednesday before returning home for a Friday-Saturday series against the Minnesota Wilderness.
