William John Koeberl, age 70, a longtime Janesville resident, passed away Friday evening, November 3, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born June 7, 1947 in Marshfield, WI, the son of the late Sylvester J. and Carol L. (Hood) Koeberl. They moved to Janesville when Bill was a boy, and he attended school in Janesville. He was a graduate of Janesville High School, Class of 1966. On November 7, 1974, he married the love of his life, Diane E. McCarthy. Bill was employed by General Motors Corp. for many years until his retirement. Bill enjoyed going to movies with his son and grandson. He loved cooking, and sharing his creations of the kitchen with family and friends. He will be missed by his friends at Daniels Sentry for his many trips into the store! Bill loved to travel and visit the casinos with Diane, and always enjoyed a great game of Texas Hold ‘Em with his family and friends. During the warm and sunny days of summer, Bill and Diane enjoyed the gathering of family for cookouts and hanging out in their pool. Bill had a great sense of humor, even trying to keep everyone smiling during his illness. His family was his world, and especially spending time with his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren!

He is survived by his loving wife, Diane; his five children: Tammy (Tom) Bradley, of Janesville, Stacy (Mark) Gorman, of Kansas City, MO, Jennifer (Joe) Koeberl-Ford, Kelly (Steve) Gottschall, and John (Nicole) Koeberl, all of Janesville; his eight grandchildren: Hanna and Jake Bradley, Bria (Jon) Lenius, Brooke Gorman, Kyler Koeberl, Garrett and Gavin Gottschall, and Nolan Koeberl; his two great-grandchildren, Caden and Cameron Lenius; his sister, Rita (Gary) Clark, and his brother Jerry Koeberl, both of Janesville; his step-brother, Dick (Carole) Davis; his in-laws, Sue Hayes, John (Linda) McCarthy, and Joanne (Don) Splinter; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends. Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Eugene; his step-father, Charles Davis; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Liz and Mac McCarthy.

Memorial services for Bill will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 10, 2017, at the WHITCOMB-LYNCH FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, with Chaplain Jim Wehrheim officiating, Memorial visitation will take place from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2017, or from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Friday, all at WHITCOMB-LYNCH FUNERAL HOME.
