MADISON—Bob and Nancy Kimball were recognized by the Wisconsin state Assembly on Tuesday for donating a building they owned to the Janesville School District.

The couple sold the three-story building that hosts the Rock River Charter School to the district for $1 in 2016, The Gazette reported at the time.

The school serves students who face special circumstances or challenges that might set them back from graduating, according to a news release.

Rep. Debra Kolste, D-Janesville, nominated the Kimballs as Hometown Heroes and spoke on their behalf to the Assembly.

The building is known as the Kimball Education Center with a dedicated Kimball Education Community Room to honor the donors.
