May 6, 1926 - November 4, 2017
Florence D. Jeannette, age 91, formerly of Janesville, died Saturday, November 4, 2017, at Evansville Manor in Evansville. Florence was born May 6, 1926, to Mary and John Heaslip in Duluth MN, the 7th of twelve children. She recounted many stories throughout her life of her loving mother and father and close, attentive sisters and brothers. In her youth, “Flossy” enjoyed singing, theatrical performing, and writing poetry. She graduated from Cathedral Senior High School in 1944 in Duluth. She married Lawrence Jeannette at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Janesville on October 19, 1946. They were blessed with six children. She and "Larry" were among the founding members of St. William Catholic Church, where she was an active volunteer in parish activities and participant in choir groups. Florence fondly recalled some early employers, including Fanny Farmers Candy in Duluth, and Goodenoughs record shop in Janesville. Much later, she enjoyed her work at Washington Elementary School as a lunchroom monitor. She was an early and avid supporter and attendee of Janesville Little Theater. Florence loved to bake, tend to her flowers and green plants, and write poetry and childhood anecdotes. She especially loved to bake caramel and dinner rolls, which were known by all in her parish and family. She liked to shop for and collect glassware especially, flow blue, a passion she shared with her sisters and her friend, Fran Otto. She liked to travel. Highlights included many joyous family reunions in Duluth, frequent trips to Sister Bay; and international trips, including Rome with the church choir, Ireland with her extended family, and England with her good friend, the late Fran Gutzman.
She leaves on this earth a rich legacy, including her sons, Edward Jeannette of Edgerton and Richard Jeannette of Janesville; her daughters: Lucy (Steven) Karlen, Nancy (Gregory) Linder of Janesville and Susan (Steven) Johnson of Sister Bay, WI; grandchildren: Amy (Shannon) Roepke, Sara (Shawn) Sullivan, Jonathan (Katie) Linder, Allen Jeannette, Stacie (Ryan) Warner, Adrian Jeannette, Ian Johnson (fiancée Abbey Carlisle) and Sammy Johnson; and great grandchildren: Emma, Avery, Max, Hannah, Aiden, Abby, Evan, David and Jack. She is survived by her brother, Pat Heaslip in Duluth, MN; her sister, Tess O’Leary in Carroll, IA; numerous nieces; nephews and their families; and supportive and kind friends, especially Barbara (Chuck) Cady. In addition to her beloved husband, Larry, Florence was predeceased by a cherished son, Robert “Bobby”; and by her much loved siblings: John, Michael, Richard, Paul and Jim Heaslip, Marion Furtman, Irene Senarighi, Bette Peterson, and Mary Lou Jordon.
