Third period costly for Jets

The Janesville Jets found themselves on the losing end of a comeback as the Coulee Region Chill scored three unanswered goals to secure a 3-1 NAHL win Saturday at La Crosse’s Green Island Ice Arena.

 

Three different players scored for Coulee Region (2-7-1-1) during the third period. Connor Zilisch tied the game off assists from Brandon Koch and Tomas Vochozka, and Bailey Martin scored the go-ahead goal just 2:38 into the period. Nick Bowman added an insurance goal at 13:19.

 

Janesville (11-3-0-0) led thanks to John Pesek’s second goal of the season at 17:46 in the first period. Jakov Novak and Alec Semandel recorded assists.

 

Jets’ goalkeeper Garrett Nieto stopped 26 shots in the losing effort. Coulee Region’s Emil Zetterquist turned aside 42 of the 43 shots he faced.

 

The Jets return home to host a two-game, two-day series against the Minnesota Magicians, beginning Friday.
