Milton man accused of assaulting Janesville woman
JANESVILLE -- A Milton man is charged with knocking on a Janesville woman’s door, forcing his way into her home and raping her Oct. 15, according to a criminal complaint filed in Rock County Court.
While the woman could not identify the rapist, it appears the man went to her home because he knew people she also knew, according to the complaint.
Mauricio A. Perez, 23, of 17 W. Front St., Milton, is charged in the incident with first-degree sexual assault, burglary while arming himself, false imprisonment and three counts of bail jumping.
The man who knocked that night asked for someone by name, and the woman said that person didn’t live there, according to the complaint.
He pushed open the door, put one hand over her mouth and one on her neck, took her into the kitchen and grabbed two knives, according to the complaint.
He took her to a bedroom, put a chair under the doorknob and took two cellphones from her before he assaulted her multiple times, according to the complaint.
He told her he would kill her and her family if she told them or police about the incident, according to the complaint.
She described him as heavily tattooed with prominent scars on his stomach. The mutual acquaintances later told police it sounded like Perez, and the woman later identified him from a Facebook photo, according to the complaint.
Perez told police the sex was consensual and part of an ongoing relationship they kept secret because of their age difference, according to the complaint.
Perez was held at the Rock County Jail on a $14,000 bond after his initial court appearance Friday. A preliminary hearing was set for Monday, Oct. 30.
