The Milton High School volleyball team clawed their way to a sweep over Lake Geneva Badger on Saturday, using their height as an advantage.

"Our height and our quickness were the big difference tonight," said Milton head coach Wayne Hansen. "They had a tough time hitting against us and our own hitters played a good, fast offense."

The Red Hawks (25-6 overall) won the first game 25-20 before taking game two 25-17 and securing the sweep in the final game by a score of 25-22.

Ashley Didelot led the Red Hawks with 15 kills while Skyler Salter paced Milton with 18 assists and two aces.

After winning the regional, Hansen said his team is as motivated as ever.

"If we lose we go home and the girls know that. If we play the way we are capable of playing then we can pull out any win. They know the end result and we're ready for Thursday."

Milton will face Westosha Central on Thursday in a sectional semifinal at 7 p.m. in Stoughton.

Second-seeded East Troy dominated the first two games by scores of 25-12 and 25-10 before closing out the final game 25-23.

"That final game was a closer than we would have liked. We got distracted by some calls in the game but we refocused and were able to close it out," said head coach Scott Nagorski.

"If we keep our energy where it's at we can play with anybody out there," he said.

Izzy Martino recorded 18 assists and Briana Sturic led the Trojans with 11 kills.
