Stoughton’s volleyball team got defensive against Janesville Parker on Thursday night.

The sixth-seeded Vikings kept the 11th-seeded Vikings’ offense in check on the way to a 25-16, 25-19, 25-20 sweep in a WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal.

Stoughton will play at Westosha Central in a regional final Saturday night.

“They’re a tough matchup for us. They play some tough defense,” Parker coach Andy Kimball said. “We’re not a super offensive team, but we couldn’t get the ball down through their defensive line.

“We hit the ball pretty well, but they were just a little better than we were tonight.”

Senior Sydney Peterson led Parker with six kills. Senior Jacy Benway posted 23 assists and 13 digs, and Mackenzie Forrest and Bri Garey added 11 digs apiece.

“We had eight seniors, and they were a big part of our season, but also a big part of setting the foundation and the mentality for the way we want to play,” Kimball said. “They were all super important to us.”
