Edgerton’s volleyball team received a bit of a wake-up call Thursday.

The Crimson Tide answered the bell, and in the process earned a rematch with Rock Valley Conference rival East Troy.

After dropping the first set, Edgerton came back to beat McFarland 21-25, 25-15, 25-14, 25-19 rather decisively in a WIAA Division regional semifinal volleyball match. It was a rubber match between the two teams after Edgerton won the regular-season meeting and McFarland won in the RVC Tournament.

The third-seeded Tide will play at second-seeded and second-ranked East Troy in a regional final Saturday.

“We just had a lot of mistakes in the first game. Our serve-receive was bad,” Edgerton coach Sharon Fox said. “And in the second game, of those 15 points (we gave up), probably 10 of them were on our errors. But we responded.”

Edgerton seniors Ashlyn and Bethany Oren propelled Edgerton. Ashlyn had a match-high 17 kills and 27 digs. Bethany added 16 kills and four blocks.

East Troy swept Edgerton 25-18, 26-24, 25-17 during their regular-season conference matchup, the lone meeting between the teams.

“All we’ve wanted is another chance,” Fox said.
