UW-Whitewater Flute Studio to host community concert and food drive

WHITEWATER—The UW-Whitewater Flute Studio is hosting a concert and food drive in December, according to a news release.

The second annual Flutiz Navidad Holiday Community Flute Choir and Food Drive will start at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, the release states. All events are free and open to the public, but donations of canned and nonperishable food items are requested.

The food drive will benefit the Whitewater Food Pantry, according to the release.

Flutists of all ages and ability levels with at least one year of experience are invited to register and participate, the release states. Flutists are asked to register online by Wednesday, Dec. 6, but on-site registration will be available. Rehearsals for participants will run from 2:30 to 5:15 p.m. Dec. 9.

The free concert is scheduled for 6 to 7 p.m. Dec. 9 at the Greenhill Center for the Arts' Light Recital Hall on campus, according to the release. The concert will feature guest performances by the Madison Flute Club Choir, Whitewater High School Flute Ensemble, and UW-W Flute Ensemble.

Abigail Kading, UW-W alumna and Whitewater High School band director, will be guest conducting the Community Flute Choir, the release states.
