BELOIT--A former Beloit postal worker was sentenced to two years of probation Thursday in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin, for stealing gift cards from the mail.

Tamara Donald, 39, of Loves Park, Illinois, had pleaded guilty to the charge Aug. 3, according to a news release from the U.S. attorney's office.

Donald admitted stealing and redeeming Menards gift cards she took from the mail while working as postal support employee, according to the release.

Investigators determined 250 postal customers were affected. They found letters, gift cards, gift card packaging, non-endorsed personal checks and money orders in Donald's car that appeared to have been removed from mail items, according to the release.
