Complaint: Beloit woman gave town of Milton man drugs that caused overdose

JANESVILLE—A Beloit woman faces criminal charges after a town of Milton man she met at Mercy Options years ago overdosed on drugs she got him, according to a criminal complaint filed in Rock County Court on Friday.

Sara N. Carns, 31, is charged with first-degree recklessly endangering safety and delivery of schedule I or II narcotics.

Rock County sheriff's deputies on Sept. 29 responded to a town of Milton home on North Dandor Avenue and spoke to a woman who broke down a door to find a man unresponsive on the floor, according to the complaint. The woman administered three doses of Narcan.

A package in the room where the man was found tested positive for 0.3 grams of fentanyl, according to the complaint. Deputies also reported finding 0.6 grams of marijuana, a grinder and a homemade tin cooker with burnt residue.

The overdose victim was taken to Mercy Hospital. He said he has been using heroin on and off for three years, the complaint states. He said he buys heroin from Carns, who goes by the name “Starr Glitz” on Facebook, where he communicates with her.

At 2:16 a.m. on Sept. 29, Carns wrote to the man on Facebook and said, “Be carefu ln safe friend,” according to the complaint.

He responded with, “Thank u. U also.”

A $1,000 cash bond was set for Carns in Rock County Court Friday. She is next set for a preliminary hearing at 1:45 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30.
