JANESVILLE--Janesville Parker has sputtered on offense the entire season.

The Vikings came into their Big Eight Conference finale against Madison West averaging only 7.2 points per game.

Things didn't change much Friday night at a soggy Monterey Stadium.

Keishawn Shanklin threw for two touchdowns and ran for another to lead West to a 35-9 win. Talented tailback Jaden Stephens added 155 yards rushing and a TD as the Regents finished 7-2 in conference play and in sole possession of third place.

Parker was 1-8 in the Big Eight and will close out the regular season next Friday with a nonconference game at Waukesha South.

West built a 14-0 halftime lead and stretched the margin to 21-0 after three quarters. Parker coach Clayton Kreger was impressed with the Regents.

"West is very tough," Kreger said. "They've got a lot of guys going both ways who don't come out of the game, but they still play hard and are very physical.

"Our offense started to move the ball better the second half, but we just fell too far behind. It's another learning experience for our guys."

Trailing 21-0 in the fourth, Kreger reached into his bag of tricks and called for a double pass. The play worked perfectly as Jordan Bailey took a pass behind the line of scrimmage and found a streaking Tremar Curry for a 38-yard touchdown.

Parker got its final points on Sam Nemetz's 31-yard field goal.

Unfortunately, Parker generated little offense over the first three quarters. The Vikings had 246 yards of total offense, but much of that came in the fourth quarter.

Kreger hopes his team can end its season on a high note with a Week 10 game Waukesha South. Teams not making the playoffs can choose to schedule one final game to end the season.

"It's a great opportunity for our guys," Kreger said of the 10th game. "It's another chance to move our program forward and in the right direction."
