July 2, 1927 - October 4, 2017

Janesville, WI - Richard N. Bouchette, age 90, of Janesville, formerly of Bella Vista, AR, passed away late Wednesday evening, Oct. 4, 2017, at the home of his granddaughter with his family by his side. Richard was born July 2, 1927, in Oshkosh, WI, the son of the late William & Ruth (Duboise) Bouchette. After attending school in the Oshkosh area, Richard enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving his country during World War II on the U.S.S. Hale, a Destroyer in the Pacific Theatre. Richard and his shipmates actually witnessed the Atomic Bomb blast in Hiroshima from their ship and survived being hit by a kamikaze. In 1972, he married Marie Cardas, and she preceded him in death in Aug. of 2014. Richard worked for many years as a postal clerk for the U.S. Postal Service in Oconomowoc until his retirement. He also enjoyed driving a school bus for Kettle Moraine School District for some years after his retirement, and was a wonderful influence on many kids because he would talk to them as young adults, and he could be a sounding board for them. He also was a very skilled bartender in the Milwaukee area, and would be sought out by people for their gatherings because of his wonderful personality and style.

He was a very active member of his church in Bella Vista, St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, and was the president of their Men’s Club. He was an avid golfer who had the long sought “hole-in-one”! He founded a golf group in Arkansas that was dubbed “The B-Boys” after his last name, and the league still shoots in his absence! He was a longtime member of the V.F.W., and was also a longtime member of the American Postal Workers Union.

Richard is survived by his  six children: Richard (Joy) Bouchette, Daniel (Judy) Bouchette, and Shanie Bouchette, Susan (Warren Mazza) Beylor, Roberta (Richard) Hegy, and Karen (Robert) Tarantino; his daughters-in-law, Rainie (Jon) Bouchette and Judy (Dan) Bouchette; 21 grandchildren;46 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; nieces, nephews, and many friends. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his sons, Timothy Bouchette and Jon Bouchette; his daughter, Bonnie Bouchette; his step-son, Alan Beylor; and his grandson, Jason Bouchette.

Private memorial services with Full Military Rites are planned. Richard’s urn will be inurned alongside his wife, Marie, at the Columbarium of ST. BERNARD’S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Bella Vista, AR.
