For the first time in several years, Janesville Parker will be adding some volleyball hardware to its trophy case.

The Vikings swept their way through four nonconference opponents Saturday, and coach Andy Kimball was quick to praise his entire team, which came together to win the Elkhorn Volleyball Invite.

"They believed in themselves and minimized their mistakes," Kimball said. "They played together today."

Parker won three of its four matches by sweep, with only Brodhead taking the Vikings to a third set. The Vikings cruised past Faith Christian and Marshall and handled Kenosha Indian Trail 25-22, 25-20 in the tournament championship.

Julianna Getka led the Vikings with 24 kills while hitting .407 for the tournament. Parker hit .190 as a team with just 32 errors in 284 attacks.

"The thing that stands out the most to me was our hit efficiency was as good as we've had it. It was super clean volleyball," Kimball said. "If we control the ball, we're going to get hits."

Jacy Benway led the Vikings with 75 assists and added 16 digs, libero Mackenzie Forrest totaled 36 digs, and Sydney Peterson (17 kills, eight aces) and Reave Myszewski (15 kills) had strong performances.

It was the first tournament title for the Vikings under Kimball, who took over the program in 2014.

Parker is off until Saturday's Big Eight Conference tournament, scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. at Craig High.
