Jets open road series with OT win
Erik Palmqvist's overtime goal lifted the Janesville Jets to their seventh victory in eight games to start the season Friday.
Palmqvist scored off assists from Brenden MacLaren and Carter Ekberg at 2:16 of the three-on-three overtime period to beat the host Austin Bruins 3-2 in the opener of a two-game North American Hockey League series.
The Jets never led until they won in sudden fashion.
Austin scored in the first period, and Janesville tied it 1-1 on captain Kip Hoffmann's power-play goal early in the second.
The Bruins regained the lead on a power-play goal of their own midway through the third period, but Regan Cavanagh's goal with 3:23 remaining forced overtime.
Daniel Lebedeff, a Wisconsin recruit, made 31 saves to earn the victory.
The teams play again tonight.
